Brown Ur-Quan Concept

In 2003 I came up with the idea of an animated series based on Star Control II and even drew this as a piece in the style of faux anime control art. The game teased us with the idea of the original brown Ur-Quan, but never showed them. I just had to do my interpretation of what they were like, and at the same time, an attempt to figure out the general Ur-Quan body plan. All we really know is that they are somewhat similar to carnivorous caterpillars.

In the context of my series idea, the surviving brown Ur-Quan were the descendants of an expedition to Andromeda that missed the whole Dnyarri debackle and returned to find their species split into two weird-looking warring extremist factions. The browns decided to hide their existance and have eked out a living at the rim of the galaxy, having grown increasingly paranoid about revealing themselves (an in general). They also find it really hard to communicate peacefully with their territorial and predatory instincts constantly sabotaging their attempts to be diplomatic and peaceful with potential allies.
