Description
A Deinonychus I drew as a commission for a paper (that makes it sound way more important than it was) that also included my Archaeopteryx illustration. This was back before a certain up-and-coming paleontologist convinced me that deinonychosaurs probably didn't have protobeaks. But hey, I learned to do proper paleoart by reading Gregory S. Paul, so what do you expect?
I tried to go with a realistic patterning and feathers based on what was known back then. Since deinonychosaurs were at least then thought to have had hair-like protofeathers, I wanted to make him look a bit like a big cat or hyena.

This is awesome! I don't care it's inaccurate, never was a fan of the fully feathered designs.
