Dragon anatomy sketches

This is the latest look of a generic dragon from the world of Aren. I've redesigned them at least twice or thrice in the last ten years already, each time trying to tweak their level of realism. The main problem was to figure out how the wings would have evolved while still allowing the dragon to retain a free pair of anterior limbs, and I found this system works best. (The dragons of Aren originally evolved from six-limbed arboreal Xenosuchians.)

These sketches eventually lead to some clean skeletal drawings that are now up in this gallery, but this is the best, most up-to-date drawing of the whole dragon with soft tissues present and wings fully visible that I could find.

For an idea of scale, in that pose the dragon would be able to look you straight in the eye, assuming you're close to the average height.
