Description

The Fendrak (Boreonychus grassator) was one of my early creations for the Speculative Dinosaur project, though this piece was a later illustration created to replace an older pencil sketch. I think I was planning to add a background for it but that never happened.

This man-sized predator is an advanced holarctic velociraptorine species I think had its origins in my own abandoned Dinosarus of the Ice Age project that had the same basic idea of letting dinosaurs evolve up until the present day. One of its peculiar adaptations for living near the polar circle are the brooding pouches for eggs it has under each arm.

It's funny that back in 2003 I had to create an imaginary species to get to draw a maniraptoran fully covered in feathers. Nowadays I could do it with a real deinonychosaur without anybody complaining. :D

Does this have any connection with the dromaeosaur described in 2015 whose name is B. certekorum?
