Godzilla is a crocodile

This redesign or reinterpretation of Godzilla as a crocodilian creature is something I started working late last december (before I again fell ill, which is why I only finished this small sketch). I wanted to deviate as little as possible from the classic design while at the same time keeping really close to crocodilian anatomy. I had for a long time thought that Big G's cranial anatomy was heavily suggestive of crocodilians and sort of wanted to prove the point to myself that you could put together a Godzilla-like creature from real archosaur parts with minimal alteration.

I had hoped to get this beyond the crude sketch stage by now, with the premier of the new movie just days away. But since that's not happening any time soon, so I'll just have to post it as is.
