Shaftiel - Angel of Shadows

This is a cleaned up higher resolution version of a picture originating from 2003. It's a bit of a weird one, in that I painted it based on a little google image search thumbnail that I thought looked like this ominous dark figure with a mass of tentacles and arms. The actual image was absolutely nothing like it, actually, in fact I think it was probably completely abstract. I had just watched the End of Evangelion movie which heavily influenced my interpretation of it, so I decided to paint my mental image as a kind of angel from Neon Genesis Evangelion. (As far as I can tell, there is no Shaftiel in any NGE media or spinoffs, but it is a real angel from judeo-christan lore.)
